11. Do you have product care instructions for different abayas? back to top
The safest way to care for your abaya or any Middle Eastern clothing is to delicately hand-wash the item in cold water. Simpler styles without delicate accents such as sequins or beads can be washed on a gentle cycle preferably with a light detergent such as Woolite. Some items will specify “dry clean only.” See items 12 -14 for more specific details.

12. How do I wash an acrylic abaya? back to top
Acrylic Amira abayas or other Middle Eastern clothing made of acrylic may be washed or dry cleaned. Use warm water setting, and add a fabric softener to the final rinse cycle when using a washing machine. Machine dry at low temperature and remove from dryers as soon as garments are dry. Wash delicate items by hand in warm water. You can reduce static electricity by using a fabric softener in every third or fourth washing. Gently squeeze out water, smoothen or shake out garment, and let dry on a non-rust hanger. Sweaters and circular knits should be dried flat; do not let them hang by their own weight as they will get deformed. If ironing is required, use moderately warm iron.

13. How do I wash a cotton abaya? back to top
Amira abayas made of cotton can be laundered easily. Cotton can withstand high temperatures (boiling water does not hurt the fiber). Any good detergent can be used to wash cotton. Chlorine bleach can be used safely on cotton whites. Use color safe bleach on dyed cottons. A higher heat setting on your dryer is needed when drying cotton. Since cotton fibers are fairly inelastic, cotton fabrics may wrinkle easily and so they may need frequent pressing. Cotton does not scorch easily and can be ironed with a hot iron.

14. How do I wash a polyester abaya? back to top
Most items made from polyester can be machine washed and dried. Polyester Amira abaya, like most polyester garments, can be dry cleaned. Use warm water and add a fabric softener to the final rinse cycle. Machine dry at low temperature setting and remove articles as soon as the tumbling cycle is complete. If ironing is needed, use a moderately warm iron.
